Back to innocence...

I never wanted to be born on this earth

I never chose my date of birth

I never chose to become a male

My birth to me is a wonder tale!

Tied into this body by a mighty force

I did not know the way to oppose

I never chose the look of my face

Everything happened at a random pace

I came to this world shedding tear

Not ever knowing what was fear

I looked around here and there

Wonder! I saw every where

Someone told me, “You are this.”

Someone told me, “You are that.”

Someone told me, “You did this.”

Someone told me, “You did that.”

Now I realize I am not this

Now I realize I am not that

Now I realize those were lies

Ignorant words from fatal ties

Then who are you? You may ask

To answer that is a difficult task

I am nothing, so no debate

Just a doll, in the hands of fate!

  1. I like to share an Osho speech which is similar to this poem. I am giving it in my own words.

“The moment you are born in this earth, this society starts to teach you ignorance. It applies many colors on you. You are an Indian. You are a tamilian. You are a Hindu. You are this caste and so on. But the truth is, you are just a human being. A human being with hunger, thirst, emotions and love. If you are really honest you will accept that you are just a being. Even the prefix human can be removed.”

  2. Thoughtful poem. It reminds me of Yesuda's song "Naan Oru Bhomai...Nee Oru Bhomai..."

  5. Thanks parv. Osho is one guru who has helped me a lot. But still I have many contradictions with him. Anyhow I would strongly recommend reading Osho. Because he is a bold and unique thinker. He''ll give you the guts to take your own decision and look at life your own way.Nice to know you too read Osho.

  6. I think I left out one more point about Osho. He makes you think on your own. Nobody else can brain wash you with false values.

  8. Hi Ramesh!

Excellent writing with very deep meaning and plenty to ponder about the meaning of our existence, our constant struggle to achieve, excel and out perform others.

I read a quote from the Bhagvat Geetha reading something like this: YOU CAME WITH NOTHING---- AND YOU WILL GO WITH NOTHING.

    Thanks for sharing!

    Have a nice day!
