Squirrel's Song

Dear Lord Ram! Dear Lord Ram!

I cherish in my heart, the blessed day
On which thy Highness came my way
Bent down to me and showed thy palm
And made me climb thy macho arm

On thy masculine shoulders, thou made me play
That moment alone my mind does replay
A zillion times, over and over
The abundance of love, thou did shower

The moment I set my eyes on you
Thy true identity, my heart did knew!
As I jump on trees from branch to branch
My heart did shout with a faith so staunch

That you are the one who resides in my heart
The source of my life and the inseparable part
That you are the one, my very core
And the source of energy in my every pore

To play on thy shoulder, like on a terrace
To relish from thy palm, a soothing caress
To serve in thy mission, a negligible part
But a name in thy story, like a counterpart

A privilege, even Great Devotees didn't get
Not even Hanuman, my Bro, I can bet
What have I done to deserve this grace?
The gratitude I feel is difficult to phrase

Living on nuts and fruits is no restraint
Never did I meditate like a Holy Saint
To chant thy name, never did I squeak
My search for food is no selfless work

Men can learn a lesson from me
To get thy grace, ever to be
All they need is a child-like heart
Not of cunningness, the tiniest part

Accept the life that is given to them
And cut out greed, at the very stem
To shed of burdens, living moment by moment
And let go of grudges that makes them repent

Eat as much as their stomach can take
And share with others the rest of their make
Roam about the world with a mindset, free
As I leap with joy from tree to tree!

I am sure Dear Ram, on a blessed day
Your Highness, for sure, will walk their way
Will bend down to them and show thy palm
And make them climb, thy macho arm!
