Rainy Season

Sugriva was coronated as the King
Lord Rama's praise he did sing
Lord Rama told him to take some rest
As rainy season was not best

To search Mother Sita, nor to fight
With Ravan and end Shri Rama's plight
Lord Rama wanted Sugriva to enjoy his life
After rainy season, they could take up the strife

Lord Rama told Sugriva that search must start
For Mother Sita, once the rains depart
Once the sky, started to brighten
Search for Ravan, must get tighten

Sugriva agreed and went to his palace
About the promise to Rama, he was not callous
But the comforts of the palace, changed him a bit
Carnal pleasure, wine and fun, he could not omit

On the other hand, Lord Rama waited watching the rain
His enthusiasm and happiness were always at drain
Months went by, one, two, three and four
Drenched completely was the forest's floor

Lord Rama witnessed the beauty of the rain
Missing His beloved Sita, He did strain
He admired the beauty of rain, with His sight
Mother Sita was not with Him, His only plight

In a cave, on the Prasnavagiri hill
Lord Rama and Lakshman stayed still
For the rainy season to go by, they waited
For Sugriva, with his horde of monkeys, they awaited

It rained heavily without a gap
To Rama it seemed like a water trap
From the trees and shrubs, water did drip
Lord Rama was eager to start his trip

In search of Mother Sita and wicked Ravan
Who smugly rests in his own haven
Lord Rama waited, waited and waited, watching the rain
Waiting to Him caused immeasurable pain

Water flowed in streams, every where
Lord Rama wondered of Sita, where she were
The streams took along with them, flowers, leaves and mud
In the sky, because of lightning and thunder, there was a thud

After four months of gloominess, the rain did stop
From dullness to brightness, the sky did hop
Lord Rama's face brightened like the sky
Why Sugriva didn't come, he knew not why

Lord Rama and Lakshman waited for more than a week
With Sugriva not in sight, they felt weak
Lord Rama got angry once few days went
His anger on Sugriva, he was ready to vent

"Lakshman! stupid Sugriva, thinks me of a fool
Not bothering to search Sita, he remains cool
Making love to his wives, he happily sleeps
His promise to us, in a dust bin, he keeps

You go and tell him, to anymore not rest
Start searching for Sita, to him would be best
I have many arrows, like the one that killed Vali
One will find Sugriva too, if his army does not rally"

Lord Rama's anger made Lakshman furious
as to Sugriva's absence, he was curious
"I will go to Kishkindha and teach the monkey a lesson
The pain you suffer from seperation, I will certainly lessen"

Saying so Lakshman walked away from Rama
Lord Rama did want an unexpected twist in the drama
He was afraid, Lakshman would kill Sugriva, in anger
He called out to Lakshman, who had walked, little longer

Lakshman came back to Rama, and asked what he wanted
"Fear that you would kill Sugriva, in my heart has haunted"
Lakshman nodded and smiled at Lord Rama's fear
"To warn him and not kill him, my mind is clear"

To the gates of Kishkindha Kingdom, Lakshman did walk
To the monkeys that were on Guard, Lakshman did talk
"I like to see, Sugriva your king, who is not right
Take me to him, or we shall enter a fight"

While Lakshman was saying thus, there came Hanuman
Lakshman's anger subsided on seeing Hanuman
Lakshman knew Hanuman was a sensible person to talk
He had already dealt with Hanuman, in his life's walk

"What is Sugriva doing, I would like to know
To the promise he made Rama, no interest does he show
I am sure he is having fun with his wives
I can be a threat, to all of their lives"

Hanuman had already warned Surgiva, about Rama's anger
And so, to send for his armies, Sugriva delayed no longer
Sugriva had already sent messages to all the monkey hordes
Messages from all direction had come, that army was on boards

Hanuman explained this to Lakshman, making Lakshman smile
Hanuman took Lakshman to Sugriva, in a short while
Sugriva was drunk and making love to his wives
The very way, seeking pleasure, an ignorant person thrives

On seeing Lakshman, Sugriva showed his humility and care
Out of gratitude and respect, Lakshman was treated very fair
Sugriva apologised to Lakshman, for not giving any news
But an army was already ready with monkeys of different hues

Lakshman then insisted that Sugriva see Ram
The next moment, Sugriva, started to see Ram
Sugriva with his well wishers, went and saw Ram
Happily and loudly singing, "Jai Shri Ram! Jai Jai Shri Ram!!"
