Sugriva Fights Ravana

Lord Rama and His armies, to Lanka, they came
To fight a war for Sita, they were game
They all chanted Lord Rama's name
Their fear of death, they did tame

They then climbed the Suvela Hill
From there they could see, Lanka in full
The sun had set and it was night
Lit up by lamps, Lanka was bright

Lord Rama cast His eyes upon Lanka city
Upon going to destroy it, He felt pity
From the top of the Suvela mountain, they could see Ravan's palace
About Lord Rama and His army, Ravan was still callous

On the terrace of His palace, Ravana did sit
Chewing betel leaves and nuts, He did spit
Inspite of Rama's army in Lanka, he was cool
Under estimating his enemy, he was a fool

From Suvela mountain to Ravana's palace, Sugriva did leap
On seeing Ravana, His anger and valour, were very steep
Catching Ravana by His necks, Sugriva did wrestle
With his enthusiasm very high, He did whistle

On the faces of Ravana, Sugriva did punch
The thought of Killing Ravana, Sugriva did munch
Ravan was a formidable opponent, Sugriva realised
Ravana from the core of his heart, Sugriva despised

Ravana and Sugriva for sometime like equals they fought
Punches and verbal assaults on each other they brought
Sugriva realised that Ravana can't be killed then
Sugriva decided to go back to Rama's den

He took the crown of Ravan and returned to Ram
Rama on the other end, could not remain calm
That something might happen to Surgiva, Rama was worried
Once Sugriva came there, to hug him, Lord Rama hurried

"Sugriv, To jump into fight, just like that, you must not
If something happens to you, our mission would be a broken pot
Even if I get Sita, without you, how can I be happy?
Here after your actions must always be snappy"

Ravana's crown at Rama's Feet, Sugriva placed
To honour Rama and dishonour Ravana, Sugriva braced
Ravana saw from His palace and felt insulted
What to do next, with his ministers, he consulted

Thus Sugriva on seeing Ravan, could not remain calm
Bravely braced Ravan into a fight with his arm
Took Ravana's crown and placed it at the Feet of Ram
Jai Shri Ram! Jai Jai Shri Ram!!
